Trace Then Color: Grumpy Faces

Grumpy Faces supplies a particular cartoon mood in tracing outlines. The artist follows the lines and can invent a reason for the expression afterward; the activity is character art, not behavioral instruction.

Understand the first drawing action

Printed outlines change the first action from choosing a picture to following its lines. Trace Then Color supplies 50 characters for ages 3+, followed by the child’s own color choices. An invented picture on spare paper can be another activity when that sounds inviting.

A separate invention invitation

After using a reference, choose whether a new idea on spare paper sounds interesting. An original starting outline can suggest another subject or one small feature. That independent exercise is an optional companion activity, not a feature being added to this book.
